Argostoli

The beautiful capital of Kefalonia which combines the traditional Ionian identity with modern infrastructure. The city is built amphitheatrically, overlooking the Koutavos Lagoon. It is the largest city on the island. Here lies the biggest port of Kefalonia. One ride is not enough to get to know Argostoli, as the city has many places that deserve your attention. Discover it! 

Ancient Krane

Start your acquaintance with Kefalonia's history, by visiting the archaeological site of Ancient Krane. You will see part of the famous Cyclopean Walls which are made of giant stones dating from the 7th-6th BC century. They are considered as very important due to the information we get for the Greek vallasion the Mycenaean era, causing admiration and amazement! 

Monastery of St. Gerasimos

Prostate of Kefalonia. Located west of Argostoli, in the range of Omala, near the Valley of the 40 Wells. It is situated in a beautiful location surrounded by vineyards. 
The building complex includes a monastery with the church of the monastery and the new church dedicated to Saint Gerasimos, built after the devastating earthquake of 1953. In the monastery is kept the relics of St. Gerasimos.

Drogarati Cave

one of the most important caves in Greece and worth seeing. Located at an altitude of 120 m in the area of Haliotis and 3 kilometers from Sami. The interior décor enchants its visitors. It has many stalactites and stalagmites creating a fantastic spectacle. 

Melissani Cave is located in Karavomilos, just 2 km away from Sami. The tour is by boat and is a unique experience. The roof of the central hall of the cave has fallen and created two sections, one open and one covered. In the center of the lake there is a small island on which were found findings that indicate that in ancient times the cave was a place of worship. For this reason the Melissani Cave called Cave of the Nymphs. 

Discover the Ainos National Park through hiking trails and enjoy its unique natural beauties. Fill your eyes with infinite shades of green and beautiful landscapes of the park. Located between Argostoli and Sami is the smallest National Park in the country. It was established in 1962 with a view to preserve the endemic species of fir (Abies Cephalonica) covering an area of 28,620 acres. In fir forest grow rare species and broadleaf shrubs. Also the park is a shelter for the famous wild horses of Ainos. You can meet them on the southeastern slopes of Mount Ainos, at an altitude of 1300 - 1500m. The surrounding area is full of cliffs and ravines, while nearby lies the Monastery of the Life Giving Source. The area of the monastery is the main habitat of horses as there is the only water source of Ainos.
